Robert Ivy Set to Receive Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award

Robert Ivy is set to receive the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award mid this year from the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters (MIAL). Through a press release issued on Tuesday by the President of the American Institute of Arts, Mr. Ivy was nominated alongside one other artist from Mississippi. His nomination makes him the first architect to receive the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award which is often given to musicians and artist from Mississippi. Making the announcement through the same release, the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters President Nancy LaForge said that it was an honor to present Mr. Ivy with one of their most coveted awards.

“Mr. Ivy has demonstrated to us that he has what it takes to improve the lives of people through architecture. He is one of the few architects who have dedicated their lives to serving people in this country. Besides, being an accomplished author, Mr. Ivy is also an editor and commentator of architecture. As an institution of Arts in Mississippi, we wanted to recognize his efforts and that is why he is the rightful owner of this year’s award”, Said LaForge.

On the other, the Chief Executive Officer of the American Institute of Arts Carl Elefante, FAIA congratulated Mr. Ivy terming him is a hardworking person who has helped in transforming the American Institute of Arts. “I am glad that Mr. Robert Ivy has been nominated as the recipient of the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award. I have worked with Ivy for several years and since he was appointed as the CEO of AIA he has performed extremely well and this award is a true token for his efforts in the institution” said Elefante.

Robert Ivy was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the American Institute of Arts in 2011. He has brought about numerous changes since he took charge of the institution. He has been on the forefront championing for diversification into other fields and the use of architecture to improve the lives of people. Prior to his appointment, Robert Ivy served as the Chief Editor at the Architectural Record. He has previously won several awards including the National Magazine and being named the Master Architect by the fraternity of Architects.

Ivy joins a list of famous individuals in Mississippi who have received the same award. Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Ivy thanked MIAL for recognizing his efforts and promised to work even harder.
